3 in 10 Patients in Kenya Are Misdiagnosed

3 out of 10 patients in Kenya are misdiagnosed, often leading to inappropriate treatment and severe complications. Over the past three years, Ilara Health has equipped 1,200+ clinics with diagnostic equipment, bringing light into a dark situation by offering clinicians a tool to make accurate and informed clinical decisions. However, we realized that providing diagnostic devices is not enough to solve the problem completely. It is also important to equip clinicians with the knowledge to appropriately diagnose, treat, and manage a disease." " " "This is why we have created a proprietary medical education platform. The Ilara Health Training Center is an easy to use online training portal that allows clinicians to learn through video content and interactive sessions. We are also in the process of creating an online community for clinicians to learn from each other. Our courses, developed with our partner S. Egidio will include content on both non-communicable and communicable diseases as well as clinical operations (such as quality assurance and improvement and patient rights and responsibilities). To date, we have on-boarded over 200 clinicians. The project was selected as part of Coopen, promoted by Innovation for Development, a program of Fondazione Cariplo and Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo.
