Improving Health in Nairobi's Low-Income Areas Through Fresh Produce
In low-income areas of Nairobi, formal retail chains typically promote products such as margarine, hydrogenated vegetable oils, sugar, and "dead" milk. This is likely a contributing factor to the poor health in these neighborhoods. However, residents do have access to fresh produce from informal street vendors. To improve health outcomes in these areas, a significant shift in behavior and policy support is necessary.
